Rocky Road

The internationally acclaimed Rocky Mountaineer will offer a host of new travel options in 2013. In the upcoming season, Rocky Mountaineer will introduce an exciting new stop in Lake Louise that will enhance its First Passage to the West journey; debut its Coastal Passage route, a scenic journey departing Seattle, WA, and offer SilverLeaf Service departures on its Journey Through the Clouds route.

“We are always looking for new ways to keep our product best-in-class and offer greater travel options for our guests," says Hubert Wat, Vice President, Global Marketing, Rocky Mountaineer. "With the launch of these innovative initiatives, travellers will have even more choice to see and experience Western Canada and the Canadian Rockies by rail.”

The introduction of Lake Louise, AB as a destination on the First Passage to the West route will enable guests staying at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise the luxury of a quick and direct transfer to their hotel. Motorcoach transfers will be available to and from The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and are included on all packages except two day rail-only. This stop marks the return of passenger rail service to Lake Louise for the first time in over two decades and a first for Rocky Mountaineer.

The Coastal Passage route will connect the major cities of Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC en route to the Canadian Rockies. The new route marks Rocky Mountaineer's fifth rail journey and its first from the United States. Guests on the Coastal Passage route will traverse the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the renowned scenery of British Columbia and the majestic mountains of the Canadian Rockies from the comfort of Rocky Mountaineer's award-winning GoldLeaf Service.

Onboard, they will enjoy luxurious surroundings in a bi-level custom-designed dome coach with panoramic views, gourmet cuisine in a private dining room and personalized service by Rocky Mountaineer Hosts.

In 2013, SilverLeaf Service will be available on Rocky Mountaineer's Journey through the Clouds route between Vancouver, BC and Jasper, AB. Onboard this route, guests will experience some of the most amazing scenery in the world, including the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Mt. Robson, and the breathtaking Pyramid Falls. The single-level glass domed coach offers a 167 per cent larger viewing area than RedLeaf Service. Combined with entertaining onboard commentary and hot meal service at guests' seats, SilverLeaf offers affordable luxury.
