The overwhelming response to this one-of-a-kind voyage since its launch in March 2023 has led the hotel to extend its exclusive experiences, offering guests and tourists an unparalleled and memorable water journey on Victoria Harbour aboard the World Star.
In a collaborative venture with another one of Hong Kong’s most venerable and cherished icons, the 125-year-old Star Ferry, and marking both legends’ significant anniversaries this year, The Pen has created a pair of unique experiences aboard the World Star, a beautifully appointed Star Ferry that plies the waters of Victoria Harbour.
Until July 2, 2023, and available on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, The Peninsula Hong Kong Afternoon Tea on the Harbour transports the hotel’s traditional Afternoon Tea from its customary home at The Lobby restaurant to the lavishly outfitted World Star, where guests will be treated to an array of sweet and savoury bites, live music, and stunning views between 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm.
A special menu includes savouries such as tuna Niçoise on focaccia; green asparagus and cheddar quiche; beef pastrami with gherkins; and classic cucumber sandwiches. Sweet treats will include citrus jelly and vanilla cheesecake; apple, cinnamon and caramel tartlets; Mont-Blanc chocolate cream on a sesame biscuit; and The Peninsula’s famed raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. A selection of proprietary Peninsula teas tops off the delightful culinary voyage, which is priced at HK$650++ (US$82) per person.
Alternatively, take an evening cocktail cruise, available each weekend evening beginning at 5:30 pm. The Sunset Soirée Cruise, hosted aboard the World Star, is a magnificent two-hour voyage through Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui Pier to Ting Kau Bridge, taking in waterfront gems like the West Kowloon Cultural District and Stonecutters Island.
During the cruise, guests can indulge in delicious canapés such as snow crab roulade with yuzu cream; seared tuna loin with salmon caviar; Serrano ham with fig chutney; and mini cheesecakes prepared by The Peninsula’s acclaimed culinary team. Guests can also enjoy creative libations crafted by the hotel’s skilful mixology team, live DJ music, and picture-perfect photo opportunities in the glow of the setting sun. Priced at HK$850++ (US$108) per person, the cruise includes canapés and two hours of free-flowing artisan and classic cocktails.
