Aquaventure Waterpark

Located at the five-star Atlantis, The Palm at the end of Palm Jumeirah, an impressive resort with more than 5,000 guest rooms and exclusive suites (including underwater stays the kids will love), a spacious private beach and several pools, Aquaventure Waterpark is among the world’s largest water parks with 105 slides and rides. Children and the young at heart can look forward to group slides like Zoomerango, Aquaconda and Odyssey of Terror, the highest waterslide in the world.

Other slides include Poseidon’s Revenge, which has several trapdoors and curves, and the vertical Leap of Faith, a transparent tube slide that leads through a pool with sharks and rays. The park also features two scenic rivers, a lazy river with a surfing wave, the Splashers children’s play arena and even a zipline, offering visitors the region’s first cliff jumping experience. Reachable via free shuttle buses from Dubai Mall and La Mer beach, Grand Hyatt Dubai is situated next to Dubai Creek and offers more than 680 rooms and suites, and over 185 hotel apartments as well as the Roli Poli kids area for little ones aged four to 12, and a 24-hour spa and fitness centre.

The hotel has a large, popular outdoor pool area that includes one of the largest swimming pools in the city, which impresses with its location in the middle of a beautiful tropical garden. In addition to a covered baby pool, there is a children’s pool, as well as a huge third main pool crossed by two bridges, all of which invite you for some splashing fun. There are also plenty of sun loungers, so you can keep an eye on the kids while you relax in the sun.

Located on the beachfront at Dubai Islands, Hotel Riu Dubai is another massive resort complex, with 750 rooms, 24-hour all-inclusive service, a private beach, a fitness centre and spa with sauna and whirlpool. There’s also the RiuLand kids club, which takes care of young ones aged two to 12 years old, who will be able to enjoy a great entertainment programme revolving around the turtle Calú, while being looked after by dedicated members of the hotel staff.

To cool off,  head for Hotel Riu Dubai’s huge pool area, which includes two children’s pools – one of them with slides – and one of the city’s favourite water parks, Splash Water World. The waterpark may not be comparable to facilities such as Aquaventure, Wild Wadi and Legoland Water Park, but still offers a lot of fun with several winding tube slides and a large water playground with a tipping bucket, showers and various water toys.

Wild Wadi Waterpark

Located at the 600-room Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which includes a two-kilometre private beach, five hotel pools, a Talise Spa and the popular KiDS Club, which offers various activities for the little ones with its indoor and outdoor areas, Wild Wadi Waterpark is one of the city’s best aquatic destinations.

The design of Wild Wadi Waterpark was inspired by the stories of Juha, a character from Arabic folklore and includes group slides like Burj Suri, Master Blaster and Tantrum Alley, as well as Jumeirah Sceirah, a 32-metre-high individual slide that shoots you down at speeds of up to 80 km/h. The waterpark also features the Wipeout and Riptide FlowRider surfing facilities, Juha’s Journey, a 360-metre-long lazy river, and the largest wavepool in the Middle East with waves up to 1.5m high. For the smaller kids, you will find the waterplay area Juha’s Dhow & Lagoon. And if you want to unwind, you can rent one of nine private Wadi Cabanas.

Jungle Bay Waterpark

Located right on the waterfront of the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) district the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort has an extensive beach, five pools – including an indoor kids pool – a fitness centre, a spa and a watersports centre that offers a range of aquatic activities and equipment, from stand-up paddleboards and kayaks to paddleboats.

However, the kids are going to want to head straight for Jungle Bay Waterpark, which has a lot to offer families (although it’s much smaller in scale than the likes of Aquaventure or Wild Wadi). There are shorter slides for the little ones, medium-sized slides and slides that are quite high with several turns and twists. There is also a wave pool and the Aqua Play water playground. While the kids splash about in the water, parents can rent a private cabana and fully relax.

Legoland Water Park

Located within the grounds of Dubai Parks and Resorts, Legoland Hotel Dubai has 250 rooms and suites, all designed and decorated with different themes: Adventure, Kingdom, Pirates, Friends and Ninjago, which the littlest travellers will love. Children can also look forward to a huge play area in the hotel lobby, a treasure hunt upon arrival, a beach-like pool, an exclusive Lego shop and creative building workshops.

The resort’s Legoland Water Park is aimed specifically at children aged two to 12 and their families and includes more than 20 waterslides and attractions. These include the water playgrounds Joker Soaker and Duplo Splash Safari, the Lego and Duplo Wave Pools, as well as the winding Red Rush family slide, the mat slide Lego Slide Racers and the 70-metre-high Tidal Tube. Other fun slides include Splash Out, Twin Chasers and Splash ‘N’ Swirl. If you want to be creative, build your own mini boat or raft and then test it out on the water.
