Anantara The Palm Dubai is a luxurious seaside retreat that’s ideally suited for families and couples alike. We take a closer look.
Located on the world-famous Palm Jumeirah just off the coast of Dubai, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort boasts 400 metres of private shoreline and expansive views of the Arabian Gulf. Here, guests can enjoy an exclusive beach escape minutes from the buzzing metropolis but still with the sophisticated Thai charm the brand is known for.
So, it’s a resort?
Yes, and as an Anantara you know it will be something special. Home to the only over-water villas in the UAE, Anantara The Palms Dubai is perched on 400 metres of private shoreline and yet is easily accessible from the city’s vibrant downtown. Boasting 293 guest rooms and suites, 130 of which feature direct access to a temperature-controlled lagoon pool, the resort injects a little Thai zen into Dubai’s popular resort precinct.
What’s the accommodation like?
If you’ve ever been to an Anantara the décor of guest rooms, suites and villas will be immediately recognisable, with plenty of dark timber, vibrant fabrics, and crisp white linens.
Options range from lagoon and lagoon access rooms through to over water and beach villas. Our 106 sqm One Bedroom Over Water Villa is a sprawling and seductive space with a king-size bed at its centre, flanked by an ample workspace, a broad sun deck with shaded sala, and a cavernous bathroom with views down the manicured beach. I particularly like the glass panel in the floor through which we could spy tropical fish feeding in the turquoise lagoon below.
And there’s plenty to do?
In an answer, hell yes. Not only does the resort feature its own private beach, but there are also three lagoons that weave their way through the property, plus a pair of tennis courts, a 50-metre shoreline infinity pool, a modern fitness centre, a beach volleyball court, and the Tuktuk Kid’s Club for when you need a break from the little ones. Of course, you’re also on the cusp of the Arabian Gulf and the watersports centre offers everything from water skiing and wakeboarding to fishing trips, boat cruises and scuba diving.
How about a little sustenance?
You’ll be spoiled for choice, with six themed restaurants and bars ranging from Crescendo, an all-day dining venue with great Middle East options, through to Mekong, home to authentic Southeast Asian dishes; and Bushman’s Australian Grill, a fun play on the classic steakhouse. Be sure to leave time for a well-earned sundowner at The Lotus Lounge or the poolside Mai Bar.

And for a little pampering?
Head to the Anantara Spa, one of the most comprehensive wellness destinations on The Palm Jumeirah. Here, a seductive selection of treatments and rituals are conducted by experienced therapists in 18 treatment rooms.
Recommended treatments include the Traditional Thai Salt Pot Massage, which uses a hot salt compress to release tension in the shoulders and lower back; the Coffee Magnesium Body Scrub; or the Treasures of Morocco, a 60-minute hammam combining a peppermint and honey body scrub with a lemon hand and foot exfoliation and a deep cleansing atlas verbena body mask.
