Island Shangri-La Hong Kong launched The Shangri-La Suite, its most indulgent guest room to date.
Although spacious, the 222-sqm two-bedroom The Shangri-La Suite, the newest creation at Island Shangri-La on Hong Kong Island, feels inviting and warm, redolent of a stylish private residence that blends layers of colours, textures and patterns, combined with crafted pieces and fine art. Designed to be both a presidential suite as well as an intimate events space, the new suite boasts décor that’s a collage of vintage and modern, with influences from around the world, from hand tufted rugs, woven wall coverings and opulent hand-blown crystal chandeliers to art selected from Shangri-La’s extensive collection.

The Shangri-La Suite welcomes guests with an elegant foyer wrapped in richly veined marble, softly curved walls with woven wallpaper, antiqued mirror, sage green lacquer, and the thoughtfully curated collection of art and design is evocative of modern chinoiserie.
Ideal for Entertaining
Picture windows enfold The Shangri-La Suite’s sitting room and bar – which also features an eight-metre-long mural in a modern take on ancient guó huà Chinese landscape paintings – dining room, master bedroom and ensuite bathroom in breath-taking views of Victoria Harbour and the city’s iconic landmarks.
Bold and distinctive, every detail is eloquently expressed, from the marble and onyx flooring and furniture, as well as the rich velvet and silk embellished with hand crafted passementerie braids, trims, and tassels in jewel box shades, to elegant, moulded cornices and coving, and a luminous hand-blown chandelier. The glamorous cocktail bar, topped with a jade green marble counter, is equipped with a wine fridge and all the accoutrements for a cocktail party.

The state-of-the-art entertainment system, separate kitchen with Siemens appliances and a fully stocked wine cellar from the hotel’s own Petrus wine selection as well as a staff entrance, and a guest bathroom provide the perfect balance of privacy and entertaining ease.
