The latest Iron Fairies to open after outlets in Bangkok and Hong Kong, the bar-cum-club features the same whimsical fairytale design, ratcheted up to accommodate a cavernous space that has become a wonderland for nightlife lovers.
Sutton (below), an Australian miner turned gifted designer and author whose work in a West Australian iron-ore mine inspired him to pen and illustrate a trilogy of children’s books, namely The Iron Fairies, has merged the gruelling fuliginous underground world of a mine, with the enchantment of the make-believe in a fascinating space that spans two floors and which pays homage to an ironsmith’s workshop.

The space, which encapsulates raw iron, timber, and leather elements and features mining machinery throughout, boats eight furnaces (from which new iron fairies are cast and then displayed on tables) that are now double VIP rooms; a stage for live bands, three cocktail bars, multiple VIP areas for bottle service; and a DJ booth for visiting deck talents. In addition, tiny bottles of fairy dust hang from the ceiling beams and catwalks crisscross high overhead.
Every part of this venue is handmade and took thousands of hours of labour by hundreds of craftsmen to complete, right down to each hand-made iron fairy. The result is a whimsical world that is both timeless and enchanting and which caters to 500 revellers across two floors.

In addition to a menu of inventive signature cocktails, The Iron Fairies provides a diverse, nightly range of musical entertainment, including live music by Sankofa, a resident Ghanese band, resident DJ Willy Monfret, who has performed in top clubs in Miami, Ibiza, and around the world, and a roster of visiting artists.
For the ultimate in exclusivity for partygoers, the mezzanine offers premium VIP areas and bars which overlook the dancefloor, but be sure to book ahead, as Bali now has fairy fever.
