Acclaimed Bali dining and entertainment venue Da Maria has launched a new Italian dinner series showcasing the talents of chef Lorenzo DePetris.
For the last eight years, Da Maria has established itself as one of Bali’s most stylish Italian eateries. With a decor inspired by the island of Capri, the restaurant’s menu focuses on the most revered dishes from the tip to the toe of the Italian boot.
Now executive chef Lorenzo DePetris, who helms Da Maria as well as other leading Bali kitchens Luigis and Mosto, has launched a new dinner series that delves into the foolscap of a different Italian region each month.
Lorenzo DePetris, has been at the helm of Da Maria for two years, building on the existing menu while refining and adding his personal touches.
“Da Maria has a very distinctive style and it was important to work with what has been such a success,” says the chef, who discovered his passion for Italian cuisine while working at two Michelin-starred Restaurant Duomo in Sicily. “I’ve introduced new dishes that work well on this menu and reflect my culinary roots.”

At Restaurant Duomo DePetris, a Piemonte native, discovered a different style of cooking and new ingredients and a love affair for culinary regionality began, inspiring the new dinner series.
The series of monthly dinners, which begins next month, is designed to whisk diners away on a culinary journey through some of the chef’s favourite regions of Italy. Keeping with Da Maria’s stunning style and personality, the one-off dinners will introduce dishes that define six very different regions of Italy, each has a personal connection for the chef.

The series begins and ends with two distinct islands: Sicily comes first, and Sardinia is last. In between, chef Lorenzo takes guests through the regions that have brought diners much-loved dishes like Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe, while introducing lesser-known regional dishes to these special menus.
Running from November to April 2024, each dinner will feature a set menu for two or more guests, and prices include a welcome aperitivo and a small wine list from each region.
The regional dinners include Sicilia (7 November); Piemonte (12 December); Liguria (16 January); Marche (6 February); Lazio (5 March); and Sardegna (9 April).
