Getting Around Thonglor

You’ll find this guy directing traffic on Thong Lo Road.

Navigating Thonglor is fairly easy to explore, thanks to the BTS Station sitting at the very top of the street. Upon exiting the station, you can choose to head either left or right, depending on which side of the street you want to explore. The numbered Sois (streets) are organized such that even-numbered Sois are on one side, while odd-numbered Sois are on the other.

On the even-numbered side, you’ll find fewer attractions but an abundance of fantastic brunch-style restaurants, starting from Soi 38. The odd-numbered side, which technically begins at Soi 51 and continues to Soi 57, features the main strip of Thonglor running along Soi 55, known for its busy nightlife and entertainment.

Though Thonglor is known for its traffic, there are plenty of transportation options to help get around. Motorcycle taxis offer a thrilling and quick ride, while taxis come and go at all hours of the day and are usually equipped with air conditioning. Grab is also a great option.

If you wish to explore the Phrom Phong area, simply walk down Thonglor Soi 13, where you’ll discover numerous restaurants and Japanese food shops and cafes. If Ekkamai is on your game plan, make your way down Thonglor Soi 10 for some sightseeing.

Although Thonglor isn’t overwhelmingly large, Bangkok’s heat and humidity can make walking outside a bit more arduous than one might like. So be sure to take breaks along the way and consider bringing an umbrella for shade and rain coverage.
