Bali is the perfect destination for wellness-based honeymoons, with its mix of luxury resorts, boho-chic hotels and a menu of traditional and modern wellness practices.

Planning a honeymoon in Bali means more than booking a beautiful resort — it’s about finding a place where romance and personal goals naturally flow together. After years of exploring Bali’s hotels and retreats, I’ve seen how the island has mastered the balance, blending ancient healing traditions with the kind of luxury that makes a honeymoon unforgettable. All of this means your search for places that combine luxury, romance and wellness into unique packages will be answered in Bali.

In Ubud’s jungles, couples are seduced by river blessing ceremonies and awakened to sunrise yoga. Along the cliffs of Uluwatu, spas open to the sound of crashing waves. In Nusa Dua or Sanur, beachfront sanctuaries blend world-class facilities with gentle, restorative calm. What unites them is the promise of starting married life with intention — slowing down, reconnecting, and celebrating in a way that feels both indulgent and mindful.

With so many options, selecting the ideal stay in Bali can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve curated this collection of nine retreats that combine romance and wellness, each with its own character. From secluded eco-villas to grand wedding-ready resorts, these are the best places to stay for couples who want their Bali honeymoon to be as nourishing as it is romantic.

COMO Shambhala Estate (Ubud) – Best for Transformative Honeymoon Retreats

como shambhala

At a glance: Ubud (Payangan) | ~1–1.5 hrs from DPS | Best for transformative wellness, private villas | From USD 750

What we love: A private estate turned pioneering wellness retreat offering a fully personalised path to transformation — together.

Once a private estate on the jungle-clad banks of the Ayung River, COMO Shambhala has been reimagined as one of the world’s most acclaimed wellness resorts. The atmosphere still carries that sense of intimacy and exclusivity — villas and residences are scattered across lush grounds, many with private pools and open-air living areas that blur the line between indoors and out. For honeymooners, it feels like slipping into a secluded sanctuary designed just for two.

Wellness here is highly bespoke. Rather than a one-size-fits-all schedule, each couple’s program is tailored to their personal goals — whether that’s detox and nutrition, yoga and meditation, or fitness and adventure. Resident experts — from Ayurvedic doctors to Pilates instructors — guide the journey, while traditional Balinese healers add a layer of authenticity. The spa’s couples’ rituals are complemented by experiences like water blessings in the sacred river, grounding both body and spirit.

Dining reflects the same philosophy: nutritionally balanced, flavourful, and focused on whole, organic ingredients. Couples can enjoy menus curated for wellbeing at Kudus House or opt for private riverside or in-villa dining for more intimate moments. Though just a short drive from Ubud, the estate feels completely hidden away — ideal for couples who want their Bali wellness honeymoon to be not only restorative but life-enhancing.

Anantara Ubud – Best for New Luxury Romance in the Jungle

Anantara Ubud

At a glance: North of Ubud | ~1–1.5 hrs from DPS | Best for new-build luxury with heritage-inspired spa | From USD 400

What we love: A fresh perspective on Ubud that pairs sleek design with time-honoured healing.

Among the newest arrivals to Bali’s wellness scene, Anantara Ubud Bali Resort blends contemporary luxury with the island’s timeless landscapes. Set against rice terraces and jungle valleys just outside town, the resort feels both fresh and rooted — a place where couples can enjoy the excitement of something new while staying connected to the traditions that make Ubud Bali’s cultural heart.

The wellness approach is grounded in local heritage. The spa draws on centuries-old Balinese healing practices, offering couples’ massages, herbal therapies, and rituals designed for two. There are modern touches, too: yoga on open-air decks, holistic fitness programs, and quiet meditation spaces that invite couples to pause and reset.

Romance is in the design. Private pool villas provide tranquil spaces for newlyweds, while jungle suites look out over the valley — perfect for watching the light shift across the rice fields. Dining celebrates Indonesian flavours alongside international favourites, with menus that balance indulgence and health-conscious options. For a honeymoon highlight, private dinners can be set in intimate corners of the resort or even within the rice paddies themselves. Practicalities are easy: it’s a short drive from Ubud’s bustling centre, yet far enough for true privacy.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali (Nusa Dua) – Best for Grand Weddings and Luxe Spa Journeys

Reef Beach Club

At a glance: Nusa Dua (Sawangan) | ~30–40 mins from DPS | Best for grand weddings, chakra-led spa programs | From USD 350

What we love: The combination of grand architecture, spiritual spa journeys and VIP villa suites — luxe, romantic and memorable.

Perched dramatically on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, The Apurva Kempinski is one of the island’s most striking resorts, blending bold architecture with sweeping ocean views. It’s a natural choice for couples dreaming of a glamorous wedding or honeymoon, with its sheer scale, elegant chapel, and villa-like suites that feel both opulent and private.

Wellness goes beyond the spa basics. The Apurva Spa takes inspiration from Balinese healing traditions while introducing innovative programs such as a journey through the chakras, where treatments align body and mind through colour, sound and energy flow. Rituals draw on local ingredients and time-honoured techniques, while sustainability is woven into the experience — from eco-conscious practices to the integration of Balinese cultural wisdom.

For elevated luxury, book the villa-style suites on the VIP floors, with private plunge pools, exclusive lounge access and a private breakfast area. These spaces offer the seclusion of a boutique stay with the full advantages of a world-class resort. Dining is equally impressive, with multiple venues spanning Indonesian fine dining, excellent Chinese and Japanese, international favourites and wellness-focused menus. Between treatments and meals, you’ve got a choice of lively public spaces, quiet corners and a stunning beach.

Sumberkima Hill Retreat – Best for Eco-Romance in North Bali

Sumberkima Hill Retreat Bali

At a glance: North-west Bali (near Pemuteran) | ~3–3.5 hrs from DPS | Best for eco-seclusion, snorkelling and diving | From USD 150

What we love: Personalised villas, soulful yoga spaces and easy access to extraordinary marine life.

In the far north-west of Bali, away from the island’s busy hubs, Sumberkima Hill Retreat offers a honeymoon that feels both private and purposeful. Villas are individually designed and scattered across the hillside, each with its own character, private pool and sweeping views of volcanoes, jungle or ocean. The sense of seclusion is matched by a warm community spirit, making couples feel like they’ve discovered a hidden part of Bali.

Wellness sits at the heart of the stay. Choose from several yoga shalas across the property — sunrise over the hills, or sunset across the bay — and dip into holistic practices from meditation to traditional therapies, guided by local and international practitioners.

Dining is another highlight. There are two restaurants: one showcasing Indonesian home-style dishes, the other focusing on wellness-leaning, plant-forward menus and fresh juices. Many villas have kitchens, so self-catering is an option (stock up on the drive in).

Beyond the hill, a short trip to the coast opens up some of Bali’s best snorkelling and diving (a must-do on any Bali itinerary), with the coral reefs around Menjangan Island considered world-class. Nearby villages reveal colourful ceremonies, quiet roads and a slower pace of life.

Bambu Indah, A Hardy Artisanal Hotel (Ubud) – Best for Eco-Chic Honeymoons

Bambu Indah Resort

At a glance: Ubud (Sayan) | ~1–1.5 hrs from DPS | Best for eco-chic design, natural swimming pools | From USD 250

What we love: Visionary bamboo design and an authentic eco ethos — style with substance.

For couples seeking a honeymoon that blends sustainability with striking design, Bambu Indah is one of Ubud’s most original stays. Created by designers John and Cynthia Hardy, the property showcases bamboo architecture and eco-conscious living along a lush river valley.

Each villa feels like a work of art, with open-air design, handcrafted details and a strong connection to the surrounding jungle. This is a place of first; your first bamboo elevator, perhaps? I know it was mine! It’s a fantasy that plays out in so many ways, from walks to dining to spa treatments.

Wellness here is as natural as the setting. Swim in freshwater pools fed over volcanic rocks, soak in riverside plunge pools, or unwind with massages that draw on Balinese healing traditions. Morning yoga unfolds in bamboo pavilions, with birdsong and flowing water as your soundtrack. Romance is woven in: candlelit dinners under the stars, secluded riverside picnics, or private in-villa dining with organic produce grown on-site.

The restaurant leans farm-to-table, keeping flavours seasonal and bright. Bambu Indah also encourages cultural connection — join local ceremonies, explore traditional villages, or simply slow down.

The Meru Sanur – Best for Five-Star Serenity with Wellness at Heart

Meru Sanur Taru Pramana

At a glance: Sanur | ~25–35 mins from DPS | Best for garden-led serenity, thoughtful spa programmes | From USD 300.

What we love: A stunning addition to Sanur, The Meru and its sister resort, Grand Bali Beach, share glorious lawns, a beachside pool and raise the standard for a new look at Bali’s first seaside resort town.

Arriving at Sanur’s newest luxury property, The Meru Sanur, is an event in itself. A stone tunnel lined with golden statues makes a dramatic entrance at this sophisticated new resort. The expansive lobby opens into an all-suite, beachfront hotel made with a host of wellbeing features, including a new reflection garden. At The Meru Sanur, tropical luxury blends with nature in low-rise timber pavilions, cocooned in lush, tropical gardens; the beach and sunrise promenade are moments away.

The spa is dedicated to wellness: tranquil spa suites, bathed in greenery, offer treatments inspired by Balinese rituals and modern wellness disciplines. Daily yoga and meditation, plus a well-equipped fitness centre, make it easy to slip into a restorative rhythm without a rigid timetable.

Suites continue the theme with calming interiors opening onto private tropical gardens, creating a cocooned, nature-led stay. If you’re all about the view, note that The Grand Bali Beach Hotel next door has all ocean-facing suites, so horizon-chasers can book there while still enjoying Sanur’s easy beachfront lifestyle. Either way, sunrise is a daily treat—Sanur faces east—so take a stroll along the beachfront path before breakfast and ease into the day.

Dining spans Indonesian classics and international favourites with wellness-friendly options and opulent breakfast buffets; the vibe stays relaxed and unpretentious, by the beach, in the restaurant, or in the privacy of your suite.

REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort (Nusa Dua) – Best for Dedicated Wellness Honeymoons

Revivo Aqua Yoga

At a glance: Nusa Dua (hills) | ~30–40 mins from DPS | Best for structured programs, villa privacy | From USD 350

What we love: Aman-level calm and a serious wellness lens — perfect for couples who see health and mindfulness as part of their love story.

Tucked into the hills of Nusa Dua, REVĪVŌ offers an immersive approach to wellbeing, ideal for couples who want their honeymoon to be as transformative as it is romantic. Set within a former Aman property, the resort retains an air of understated luxury: sprawling villas with private pools, shaded gardens and tranquil pathways that create a sense of total seclusion.

Wellness is the central focus. REVĪVŌ combines cutting-edge therapies with traditional wisdom, offering programs from hydrotherapy and Pilates to mindfulness, breathwork and energy healing. Couples can work with resident experts to design personalised programs — whether you’re seeking detox, stress release or a deeper sense of connection. Balinese practices are woven throughout, keeping even the most modern treatments grounded in the island’s traditions.

Romantic touches are subtle but powerful. Villas are designed for privacy, and the grounds invite long, quiet walks or shared time in meditation gardens. Dining supports the journey with plant-forward, nutritionally balanced menus that are as flavourful as they are restorative. Couples’ yoga or tailored spa rituals create space for intimacy within a structured plan.

GRÜN Uluwatu – Best for Boutique, Design-Forward Wellness

Grun Bali pools

At a glance: Uluwatu (Pecatu) | ~40–60 mins from DPS | Best for boutique wellness, recovery facilities | From USD 150–180

What we love: Intimate scale, serious wellness facilities and photogenic treehouse design — a fresh boutique angle for a Bali wellness honeymoon.

On a quiet hilltop in Uluwatu, GRÜN pairs boutique scale with striking, sustainable architecture. Stays span treehouses, studios and ocean-view villas, many with plunge pools and broad decks facing the Indian Ocean — a distinctly intimate alternative to the mega-resort model.

Wellness is a true focus, anchored by a dedicated Recovery Area with sauna and hot-and-cold plunge pools, plus a yoga shala, gym, Balinese spa and massage, and daily Reformer Pilates. Couples can move easily between slow mornings on the mat, contrast therapy sessions and side-by-side treatments, creating a restorative rhythm without being rigid.

Design lovers will appreciate GRÜN’s aesthetic — timber, glass and greenery — and the on-site Retreat Village by Stilt Studios, a serene pocket for mindful movement and small-group sessions. It adds a quietly elevated dimension to the wellness offering without tipping into anything clinical. Dining is relaxed and health-leaning, with panoramic ocean views from the restaurant and menus that keep things fresh and light. When you’re ready to explore, Uluwatu’s cliff paths and beaches are a short drive away for surf-watching walks and casual café stops.

The Legian Seminyak – Best for Sunset Romance and Urban Wellness

The Legian Seminyak

Image courtesy of The Legian Seminyak’s website.

At a glance: Seminyak | ~30–45 mins from DPS | Best for sunset romance, Ocean Suites or Club Villas | From USD 500

What we love: The best of both worlds — Seminyak’s cosmopolitan energy and a sanctuary of romance and wellness.

In the heart of Seminyak, The Legian is a timeless beachfront icon that pairs Bali’s famous sunsets with a sense of serene exclusivity. While Seminyak is known for its energy and style, this resort feels like a calm enclave within it — the kind of place where you can step from a private infinity pool to the golden sand, then retreat into understated luxury whenever you like.

Couples have a choice of settings. The Ocean Suites — my personal favourite — frame sweeping sea views that make every sunrise and sunset feel unforgettable. Across the road, The Club Villas offer an even more private experience, with spacious residences, private pools and access to exclusive amenities, while still enjoying the full services of The Legian.

Wellness is woven into daily life. The Legian Spa offers personalised programs that blend traditional Balinese therapies with modern approaches such as reflexology, Reiki and sound healing. Yoga and meditation are held on the beachfront lawn, and a dedicated wellness concierge can tailor experiences to your preferences.

Dining celebrates the island’s natural abundance with locally sourced produce and wellness-friendly creations alongside fine-dining classics — all with the soundtrack of the surf. As the sun dips, the beachfront becomes one of Bali’s most romantic stages.
