INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit Review: Temple-Inspired Design Meets City Views

Nestled in the heart of Bangkok’s ever-evolving On Nut district, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit offers savvy travellers unassumingly urban luxury with a modern, playful vibe infused with Spanish flair from the renowned Meliá hotel and resort brand. This intriguing five-star hotel, which opened its doors in 2023, is best known for its innovative design, much of which has been inspired by iconic Thai temples like Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho and which blends seamlessly with contemporary aesthetics and sustainable practices.

For me, a Bangkok regular, the standout appeal of the INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit lies in its striking rooftop infinity pool with a transparent bottom (more on that in a minute), which offers thrilling city skyline views that capture the essence of Bangkok’s dynamic energy. Guests can also expect a sophisticated yet relaxed experience, minutes from the action of the Thai capital, as well as vibrant social spaces, making this new addition a perfect option for travellers looking to unwind after exploring the city’s tourism hotspots.

It’s also clear that the hotel’s typically younger, sophisticated urbanite guests dig the vibe, with the hotel garnering prestigious accolades, including the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award and TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice, reflecting its high guest satisfaction scores.

Sukhumvit Convenience: Proximity to Skytrain, Shopping, and Local Vibes

Its close proximity to key attractions and things to do is a major draw for the hotel, which, while a little way from the main tourist hubs of Bangkok, is still nestled within vibrant Sukhumvit.

INNSiDE by Meliá’s guests have access to the city’s BTS Skytrain’s On Nut station (which is across the road), linking guests to the entire Skytrain network for seamless city exploration, as well as to major shopping malls like The EM Shopping District, Terminal 21, Mega Bangna and Emporium/EmQuartier. Suvarnabhumi International Airport is a 30-minute drive away (traffic dependent).

Like many of Bangkok’s most popular districts, the On Nut district pulses with a blend of local authenticity and modern sophistication, offering a quieter escape from the chaos of central Bangkok while remaining connected to its heartbeat. This emerging area is characterised by trendy cafes, street food stalls, and upscale residential vibes, making it feel like a hidden gem for those in the know who are perhaps tired of the tourist throngs. Nightlife enthusiasts will appreciate nearby spots like District W for bars and live music, while foodies can stroll to Century The Movie Plaza Sukhumvit in under 6 minutes for cinema and dining combos.

This location shines for independent travellers who crave convenience without overcrowding, and the hotel will appeal to adventurous couples, digital nomads, or families wanting a balanced mix of urban buzz and relaxed neighbourhood charm. It’s also ideal for those prioritising public transit over central hub intensity, allowing deeper immersion into Bangkok’s local scene.

Room Categories: From 20 sqm INNSiDE Rooms to 64 sqm Townhouses

The hotel’s 208 rooms span several categories, each designed with a modern, innovative flair that emphasises sustainability, culture and comfort. Entry-level options include the 20 sqm INNSiDE Room King with its king-size bed and city views, and similarly sized INNSiDE Room Twin, featuring two single beds. For groups or families, the 40 sqm INNSiDE Connecting Room combines two units and features one king and two singles, while 20 sqm INNSiDE Corner Rooms offer panoramic city vistas and a glorious king-sized bed.

Stepping up, the 44 sqm Townhouse – one of which we enjoyed on the 21st floor – provides a separate lounge area, making it ideal for two adults and one child, while the 64 sqm Townhouse Two Bedroom category accommodates up to four adults and two children with two king beds.

As mentioned earlier, the hotel’s décor draws from Thai temple inspirations, incorporating textured walls, minimalist lines, and playful elements like black-and-white art that evoke a serene yet vibrant atmosphere.

I found the rooms to be airy and contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding spaces with natural light, creating an inviting sanctuary amid the city’s hustle, while DreamMaker mattresses, paired with high-thread-count linens and adjustable lighting for a personalised ambience, ensure a restful sleep. Workspaces are also thoughtfully integrated, with desks by the windows, USB chargers, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, making the hotel perfect for remote workers.

Bathrooms also impress with rain showers (and bathtubs in higher categories), organic Smile products, plush INNSiDE bathrobes, and slippers, while complimentary minibars are stocked with non-alcoholic beverages (Townhouse guests get a few additional perks, including local beer and coffee machines), yoga mats on request, and Chromecast-enabled televisions for streaming.

Despite the number of guest rooms, you never really get a sense that the hotel is busy (although it was full when we visited).

Dining at INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit: Breakfast Buffets to Rooftop Tapas and Cocktails

With four on-site venues, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit delivers a culinary journey blending international, Thai, and Spanish influences, making it a popular spot for in-house guests and locals alike.

The Kites Eatery, bathed in natural light thanks to double-height windows, serves as the all-day hub, offering American, buffet, and Asian breakfast options paired with spectacular cityscape views from its perch on the 31st floor. I found the buffet to be impressive for its variety – think fresh fruits, pastries, made-to-order eggs, Thai congee, and continental staples – and don’t forget to try the great lunch set menus and the leisurely afternoon tea selection.

For elevated evenings, head up to ever-popular LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar on the 33rd floor, which features a dramatic alfresco terrace with DJ sessions, inventive cocktails, and outdoor seating amid panoramic views, as well as a sophisticated main dining room and a menu of delicious Spanish tapas by chef Juan Ignacio García Racionero that ranges from street-food classics to signatures like burrata with anchovies or patatas bravas. The ambience is sophisticated yet lively, with attentive staff curating pairings, and even if you’re not coming for dinner, don’t miss sunset cocktail sessions on that stunning outdoor terrace.

You’ll also be drawn to The Giant Swing Pool Bar, the hotel’s crowning glory, which offers light Mediterranean, Thai, and international bites served beside the mesmerising infinity pool, making it an ideal spot on Bangkok’s balmy days for swim-up refreshments in a chill rooftop vibe.

Finally, adjacent to the reception, The Open Living Lobby is an elegant, airy lounge and co-working space that provides aperitifs and snacks throughout the day.

On-Site Amenities: Gym, Pool Deck and DJ Sessions

For a boutique-ish styled hotel, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit offers impressive facilities that promote wellness, work, and wonder, starting with that iconic 34th-floor rooftop infinity pool with its transparent bottom for vertigo-inducing city views. Open daily (and super popular, so get in early) with sun loungers and umbrellas, it’s a highlight for relaxation.

Also on the same floor is the hotel’s tiny but popular 24-hour fitness centre, which is equipped with modern cardio and weight machines.

In addition, the hotel offers fascinating cultural programmes that range from tapas and cocktail classes to DJ sessions by visiting artists at LUZ Bar for lively evenings.

Pricing and Inclusions: US$100–300 Rates with Wi-Fi, Minibar, and Breakfast Options

The price range for INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit starts at around US$100-200 per night for entry-level rooms, scaling to US$300+ for Townhouses, depending on the time of year you’re visiting. Those rates include complimentary Wi-Fi, non-alcoholic minibar items, and access to the rooftop pool and gym. Breakfast may be added (and I think you should opt for it as it’s a great way to fuel up before you head out to explore), while parking is available on-site.

Compared to similar hotels in the area or more central options, INNSiDE offers impressive value thanks to its contemporary design, friendly and attentive staff, and its unique rooftop features – it’s no wonder that so many TripAdvisor users have rated it so high.

I’d suggest value-conscious travellers book mid-week or off-peak, avoiding the high season of November to February if they can. You also might want to inquire about upgrading to a Townhouse at check-in, as last-minute upgrades are often very affordable.

Who It’s For: Younger Urbanites, Couples, Nomads, and Small Families

If you’re looking for a stylish base from which to explore the city, one that smacks of Catalonian charm infused with distinctly Thai hospitality, you should definitely check out INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit and leave the crowds to the Bangkok newbies.

Best suited for younger sophisticated travellers – couples craving romantic sunsets, business pros utilising co-working vibes, or families looking for a little more elbow room – it’s a haven for those avoiding tourist throngs.

For me, the key pros include the convenient BTS access for effortless exploration, friendly staff who were always quick to smile and share local insights, and those modern, residential-styled rooms with stunning views and complimentary perks. My only niggles would be how busy the pool deck gets, the small fitness centre, and the thin walls – pray for a quiet neighbour, and you should be fine!

Overall, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit left us with a lasting impression as a stylish, sustainable haven that fuses the past with the present, delivering a seamless blend of relaxation and urban adventure as well as those iconic dining experiences and Instagram backdrops, of course!
